Interesting item recently sold on eBay. Postmark indicates it’s a 1973 issue. This medal was previously identified by me, but I never knew it was part of a postal cover.

I once owned two gold slugs. This is an 1851 $50 Lettered Edge (LE) Humbert 880. It’s longer in my collection.

I created this a few days a go. After clicking the center start button, click the YouTube logo (bottom right), and display the video full screen.
Turn up your volume, enjoy the music, and watch ….
Interesting listing from Banknotes.com http://www.banknotes.com/hi4dkc.htm
This listing has a Hawaii NORFED certificate.
The listing is missing many others from Hawaiian Money: Standard Catalog “Second Edition”. http://www.banknotes.com/hi.htm
I finally obtained a bronze version of 2MN-680 that pairs with my silver version. Seems that I have a Duke Kahanamoku theme exhibit in the works from fraternal medal, HSNA medals, so-called dollar, Franklin Mint issues, and Duke’s Corp dollar (discusses in next blog entry).

In my personal collection.
2M-318 set (silver and bronze) 1981 Maui Coin Club medals. Mintage 65.
2M-319 (cupro nickel) 1981 Maui Coin Club medal. Mintage 20.
Each medal in original as issued case.

Franklin Mint Ingot-Royal Seal Number 3
From the book : Hawaiiana Numismatic Issues from The Franklin Mint: Medals, Coins, and Ingots (https://www.amazon.com/Hawaiiana-Numismatic-Issues-Franklin-Mint/dp/150772554X)
“The following ingots depict royal seals of the Kingdom of Hawaii. These royal seals are not classified as a Franklin Mint round (FMR) due to the lack of a relief (raised) design on the reverse. The reverse of the ingot has an incuse negative impression of the obverse design (a thin planchet is struck between two exact dies to form the seal).”
Sorry for the lack of original postings. I’ve been busy outside the hobby.
Here is an interesting tidbit of a donation I made back in 2012. I’m actually in the video for a second or two. This is an original write-up I made for a registry set.

My uniface Saint Louis College medal is actually a 1996 HSNA medal.
