I’m in the process of updating my “Eisenhower Appreciation Medal Book”. New title is still under wraps. However, I wanted to share Frank Gasparro’s dual torch design that he repeated in 1960, 1961, and 1962.

Congratulations to Garry Moore!
One goal for Hawaiian collectors/numismatists is to promote the hobby. This in-turn increases the number of new Hawaiian collectors/numismatists to pursue this life-long hobby.
Garry Moore has accomplished this at the 2016 ANA National Money Show in Dallas by sharing his Hawaiian numismatic knowledge and exhibition prowess. He put the Hawaiian collector/numismatic on the National ANA scene!
Garry has:
- Won 1st place in the Class 2 Economics category with an exhibit titled: Token Appreciation: The History of the Hawaii School Lunch Tokens.
- Won 2nd Runner-Up for Best -in-Show
Great accomplishments! Congratulations to Garry on the 2016 National ANA-level wins!

My Second Hawaii Official Statehood Medal Progression Set
I received this set a few minutes ago. I’m extremely happy with this set. M&R estimates only 30 sets were made.
This is the 3rd strike medal.

The Serial Number transition is 1043 (NII HAU spelled incorrect) and 1044 (NIIHAU spelled correct)

This coin is a Royal Hawaiian Mint issue.
1) Gov. Ben Cayetano struck the first coin at the Royal Hawaiian Mint. Star-Bulletin provides the evidence. Coin is shown in the article. http://archives.starbulletin.com/2000/08/22/news/wild.html
2) Hallmark on the reverse of the coin is RHM (bottom image).

I first reported this find in my 12/17/2013 blog entry (see above link). This is the first known Royal Hawaiian Mint error.
I took additional pictures today (with new DSLR camera and close up lenses).
You can clearly see the repunched 1, 9 (first only), and the 6.
Current catalog assigned number is RHM-PVK-21-06 in my work in process book.
Royal Hawaiian Mint: Unlisted Captain Cook Coin
Waifs in Gold Boots (aka Royal Hawaiian Mint database) does not list an “Atlantis” reverse Captain Cook coin WITHOUT a hand punch sterling hallmark.
