Purchased this Franklin Mint ingot in its original sealed card. It took some time to locate one.

Shipping is high…but comparable to eBay.
If a jewelry store sells it…must be readily available (Jewelry store began carrying the ingot in March 2013 as per a their Facebook account…

NGC hosed the certification label on this beauty. I purchased this so called dollar sight unseen based on the NGC grade MS64 RB. The certified HK-533 so called dollar does have a low population and an original mintage of 250. When I received it , I was disappointed that the owner never had it corrected. How can a mintage of 250 have a serial number of 533?

I must admit that I totally forgot about this auction. I had an online bid, but missed the live auction. M&R catalog value is $6,500. It sold for 360 euro (~$488.05). I was 30 minutes late and missed this bargain. Of all things, I was on a training run…

Bronze 2M-109 has companion medal that is unlisted in M&R, the sterling silver 13mm. The 13mm is know to have the bent spear error.

Pacific Bullion Exchange issued in 1974. Mintage unknown. This is a nice toned specimen in my collection.
Also has an “X” identifier (Krause X# MB73).

Final hammer price was $1200 (without auction fees) (Last weekend). I stood by and watched it exceed my bid. My research indicated it was damaged (similar damaged piece NGC AU Details exists http://www.collectors-society.com/wcm/coinview.aspx?sc=24669 ).
This is lower in grade, but the top mount is exactly like the NGC AU Details specimen. Why bid on a damaged and incomplete piece?

After examining this medal up close, I have determined the source Franklin Mint set. Information in the image is accurate and based on my research. The medal is hallmarked with the year 77 (1977) on its plane edge.
Noticed a few later date RHM products being incorrectly identifed on eBay. Later date are those produced after BVNH retired.
RHM owners are reusing original dies mated with modified and/or new dies. Seems individuals are looking at the obverse date and assuming its the original issue year. Sadly, they are mistaken.
If you read the RHM section in M&R, a statement is made that RHM never destroys dies. Therefore, all RHM dies are available and they are reusable.
If you study the die pairs being offered you can spot the die reuse.
Major collector issue is the possibilty of restriking previously low mintage coins from the original dies. If it does happen, the RHM products will only be worth its bullion value.
I recommend checking the hallmarks on both the obverse and reverse. I previously made a blog entry on RHM hallmarks.

Another cherry pick added to my collection. Struck in 1983 and lays claim as second die cut by mintmaster BVNH. Purchased for its luster and surprised by its low mintage of 50 after locating its information in the RHM database.
